5 Reasons Why We Don't Achieve Excellence

There are many factors that can cause you to fail. On my personal development path, I came across these factors which can prevent you from getting to where you want to get.

Hopefully, I was able to overcome them and today I will share with you the 5 factors that you will come across on your journey to excellence.

1. Afraid to take risk

If you want to be successful there is no other way around. You have to take calculated risks. The person who never tried anything risky makes no mistakes. But, not making any attempt is, in fact, a bigger mistake than making the attempt and failing.

If you don’t take risks you will lose the opportunities given to you. Take risks, but don’t gamble. Take risks to move ahead in life with your eyes wide open, gamblers take risks with eyes closed.

2. Lack of persistence

A man is a hero not because he is braver than anyone else, but because he is brave for ten minutes longer. – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

When problems arise and become insurmountable, you may think that quitting is the only way out. This can be said of any marriage, relationships or job. You need to be struck by problems but not destroyed by it.

As we often heard, failing does not mean you are a failure. It just means try again and again. Persistence represents a strong will to do it even when times get tough. Most people fail not because they lack knowledge or talent. But because they quit when times get tough.

3. Lack of priorities

Not having your priorities in order is time wasted and time wasted is life wasted. Prioritizing requires discipline to do what needs to be done instead of doing things depending on your mood.

Yes, you can talk about success and failure but without doing your best at it nothing is possible. Priority is a big key to your success. Success is not about reading and memorizing but it is more about making priorities and applying them in order.

4. Make too many excuses

Losers always have a list of excuses to tell why they will not be able to do a certain thing. Some of them are:

  • I have no luck
  • I’m too old or too young
  • My star is not strong enough
  • I’m not smart
  • I’m not good looking
  • I don’t have enough time
  • I have kids
  • The government is bad

The list can go on.

Sadly, these excuses will not produce any results for them.

5. Fear

Fear comes from a lack of understanding. If you live in fear it is like living in prison. Fear will result in insecurity, lack of confidence and procrastination. With fear, you cannot think straight and this destroys your potential as a human being. Fear ruins many things like relationships and health.

Some common fear is fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of rejection etc. When kids start walking they fall many times and to them, it is not falling, it is learning. Someone once said…It is better to die on your feet than to live in fear on your knees.
